Showcasing Our Craftsmanship in the Home of the Year 2025

Award-Winning Kitchens Limerick

Dovetail Interiors is proud to share the news that a stunning Limerick property, owned by Amy and Eoin Martin, has been crowned Home of the Year 2025. This achievement reflects not only the homeowners’ clear vision and thoughtful design choices but also the craftsmanship and attention to detail that guided our work throughout the project.

We had the pleasure of crafting the bespoke kitchen and a selection of custom-made furniture pieces that now play a central role in the home’s distinctive character. It was a rewarding collaboration that brought together creativity, practicality and premium manufacturing.

Project Story

Understanding the Vision

From the outset, Amy and Eoin were committed to transforming their 1970s upside down home into a bright, expressive and family-friendly space. Every detail, from layout to finishes, was considered through the lens of daily life and long-term comfort.

Their priorities included:

  • A kitchen that felt warm and welcoming
  • Intelligent use of the elevated first-floor layout
  • A colour-rich interior that reflected their personality
  • Improved functionality and flow
  • High-quality materials that would stand the test of time

The home underwent a major renovation, including structural reconfiguration and a significant upgrade to achieve an impressive A3 BER rating. That balance of character, sustainability and modern comfort set the tone for a thoughtful and inspiring collaboration.

Case Study

Our Role: Crafting the Bespoke Kitchen and Furniture

From the colour-drenched kitchen to the bespoke desks and shelving, every cabinet, drawer and work surface in this project was designed and made in our Limerick workshop. The result is a coordinated family space where cooking, working and family life all sit comfortably together.

Designing a Kitchen for Real Life

The Martins wanted a kitchen that could handle family cooking, homework, home working and entertaining without feeling crowded. We mapped the way they use the room day to day, then zoned the space so the cooking area, island seating and desk-style surfaces all work together naturally.

Bespoke Cabinetry that Fits the Architecture

The upside-down layout and existing structure meant nothing about this kitchen was straightforward. Every run of cabinetry — from the tall blue units to the low-level storage around the perimeter — was made to measure to sit perfectly within the reconfigured walls, ceiling lines and window positions.

Integrated Desks, Shelving and Storage

Beyond the main cooking zone, we designed desk-style worktops, floating shelves and internal storage that mirror the kitchen detailing. This creates a quiet continuity between the kitchen, study corners and living areas, so laptops, books and everyday items all have a considered place to live.

Materials, Colour and Hand-Finished Details

The rich blue cabinetry, warm timber tones and carefully chosen hardware all play a role in how the space feels on camera and in person. Doors, frames and worktops were machined, hand-sanded and finished in-house to achieve crisp shadow lines, smooth operation and a durable, family-ready finish.

A Connected Kitchen and Furniture Scheme

The same language of joinery runs through the kitchen, desk areas and additional fitted furniture, giving the Martins a home that feels designed as a whole rather than room by room. It’s this continuity — visible in the video — that makes the cabinetry, storage and desks feel like a single, cohesive piece of bespoke design.

Why This Project Reflects the Strength of Bespoke Design

The Home of the Year judges praised the Martins’ home for its personality, creativity and cohesion. These qualities are often most successful when paired with bespoke design. Our involvement highlights several advantages of custom-made kitchens and furniture.

Tailored Solutions

Older homes, particularly those with unusual layouts, benefit greatly from made-to-measure design. A bespoke approach ensures no space is wasted and no compromises are required, so every corner of the room works hard for the people who live there.

Quality Craftsmanship

Handcrafted joinery offers durability and a higher standard of finish, which aligns with the Martins’ long-term vision for their family home. From the cabinet frames to the final coats of paint, each stage is carefully controlled to deliver a kitchen that feels solid, refined and built to last.

A Unified Design Language

Custom pieces allow for complete alignment with the interior style. Colour, form and detail can be matched precisely to the homeowners’ preferences, creating a unified design language that runs through the kitchen and adjoining spaces.

A Proud Moment for Dovetail Interiors

Celebrating Limerick Craftsmanship

Seeing the Martins’ home recognised on a national stage is a meaningful achievement for everyone involved. The project reflects the collaboration, creativity and dedication that shaped every detail of the renovation. We are honoured that our bespoke kitchen and custom furniture played a role in bringing Amy and Eoin’s vision to life, and we take great pride in the craftsmanship that contributed to this award-winning home.

We extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to Amy and Eoin Martin for choosing Dovetail Interiors and for trusting us with their beautiful home. It was a privilege to be part of such a warm, joyful and inspiring project.
